The Maze Runner By James Dashner - Review

The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner, by James Dashner is a book that, once you start you just can't stop - at least I could not. Last night, I even missed an author chat with the amazing Carrie Ryan author of The Forest of Hands and Teeth (or most of it). I just had to finish, I was down to the last 100 pages, you know how that is.

So, anyway - I tried to write this last night, my mind was reeling with what happened, at the end of the book...I tried but failed, not because the book is not amazing, but because I could not stop thinking about the characters - Thomas, Chuck, Teresa...

I found myself, unable to sleep, or even to pick up another book, which hardly ever happens.

The Maze Runner is really quite an amazing read...my heart breaks for the ending, in fact - the tears, fell till I fell asleep.

Maze Runner is full of amazing twists, and neat "I never expected that" turns...I really enjoyed it, and OMG Whens the next one coming out?

Tomas, is amazingly strong, sweet, kind, loving...Loved him as the lead character, he's so likable but at the same time, you wonder - is he really, who he says he is? He does all the right things, but is he just putting on a "show" to get the Gladers to trust him? Several of the Gladers who have been though the Changling think so...I found myself not wanting to doubt our faithful hero, Tomas or his intentions toward the other Gladers. I can't say more, don't want to give it away....

Then there's Teresa, you don't see to much of her, but I like the "connection" her and Tomas share...it adds another unexpected twist - she adds a different element and I can't wait to see their relationship develop...Is Teresa to be trusted as the Gladers continue on there journey?

Chuck was one of my favorite characters, as well as Minho and Newt - Chuck leaves me heart broken, he's such a fun character, Thomas often gets tired of him and his talking, but somehow Chuck worms his way into Thomas' heart - they become brothers...Minho and Newt are an excellent support case, along with many of the Gladers...

The Maze Runner leaves you wondering, a deep "NEED TO KNOW" wondering - with tons of questions still on your lips...then you read the epilogue - and it's even worse...

For me, this book is a "must read"...All in all I give it a 5.

Up next is...Shiver, by Maggie Stiefvater, I have heard such great things...I can't wait!

  1. I have heard such great things about The Maze Runner. LOL about the epilogue...I kind of like to be tortured like that. One of my fav series - Karen Marie Moning's Fever series always has huge cliffhangers:)
