Everyone loves a contest, I know I personally do, and with all the bad stuff going on right now, I thought why not do something – to make not only myself happy – but someone else too!
I mean come on, I know buying books gives me a smile – I just now hit “buy” for a few new one's that were recommended – Ash, Strange Angels, Betrayals and The Seven Rays, plus a few for my “Christmas book buddy!”
So now it's your turn, to win something fun! And it's ALL about you picking what you want to win!
For our grand prize winner - head over to the Book Depository – and pick a book (or two) (up to 20-25 bucks), and I will buy it (or them) and have it shipped to you! Just in time for Christmas, our little Christmas present to you! (I will not make you pick the book yet, since if your like me, in a week you could already have the one you want RIGHT now! LOL! So be on the look out for the email from me, when you win – so you can pick your book!)
In addition to our one “grand prize” winner – We will be having 2 “other” winners – for some fun stuff yet to be determined – books, probably (though they might be “read” hope that's OK) – and other fun “holiday” gifts to be sure! (Leave a message in the comments about what you think might be in the 2 other winner's boxes – and get 2 extra entries!)
- PS if we get 100+ followers to our blog, we will be adding 2 more "regular" winners!!! (Guess what we MADE IT!!!! WOOT! Thank you all soo much!)
So now, what do YOU have to do to enter? That's pretty easy -
* You don't have to be a member of our blog here – but we would LOVE it if you did, so you will get +10 entries if you join our blog.
* If you twitter about the contest, you will receive +3 (for up to 3 extra entries)
* If you follow us on Twitter +5
* If you post about this contest +10 (leave a link)
* If you put a link to the contest on your side bar +3 (leave a link)
* Add what you think might be in the "other winners" boxes for +2
* Tell me one of your fav. Christmas memories (need something to make me smile) +5
Now the contest will run from now, until the 4th of December! Join in the fun...you know you wanna!
Be sure I have your email address - either in your google info or please leave it here. :) Thanks!

+5 Christmas Memory...I'm going to make you laugh. My very first cat had issues with tinsle..aka she would eat the tinsle then run around the house with it, umm hanging out of her other end. I haven't looked at tinsle the same way since!
Ohh awesome contest!! Thanks for not making us choose just yet - completely agree, a book I'm yearning for right now might make it's hot self into my hands tomorrow! :)

+2 Umm... candy canes! Christmas treats, bookmarks.. uh, I really don't know. I'll throw a guess for one of the books as Beautiful Creatures because you mentioned it in your "best book you ever read" post - though I don't think you'd be willing to give it up if that's the case! LOL
+5 Well the one that stands out the most is when I was 5 years old- leading up to Christmas I disappeared on mum in the department store (naturally she freaked out because she couldn't find me). When she finally did, there I was cooking up a storm in this oh so wonderful toy kitchen centre thing... it had a microwave, fold out table, fridge, sink, stove, etc. I LOVED it. Every time we went to the shop, I continually ran off on her to go play with it. Come Christmas morning you can safely say I had the biggest grin on my face when I woke up to find she'd bought it for me, stocked full with the yummiest play food you could ask for. I was a very happy little chef! :D
Great contest! I'm having a similar contest on my blog, go check it out if you wanna! (You can't get enough books, can you?) Here's the link fot that one: http://yavampirebooks.blogspot.com/2009/11/international-giveaway-buy-books-for-16.html

+5 Well, every Christmas my dad's family gets together and we play Christmas carols. No, I did not say SING, we play. We're talking flutes, clarinets, trombones, piano, sax, and so on. I play - the glockenspiel. My great grandmothers to be precise. It's a bells set, set up like piano keys and hit with mallets. So, I have to admit - we're not all that great. Most of us are out of practice or at least didn't practice together more than once. My dad composes all the music for us and it's mainly done for my grandfather - who is going deaf anyways. It's probably the most hilarious and fun thing to participate in and watch as well. Always makes things a bit fun around the holidays.
Hopefully that is cheering! :-D

+5 I'm always sick on christmas (seriously, I'm about 7 years and running), and so I'm usually not in the best mood. Last christmas, when I opened my gift from my brother, it was a picture of the inside our hallway closet and it said that I had to find the gift. So I went through a series more of clues until I found that he had hid the gift in my room, behind my TV! Needless to say, his scavenger hunt really made me feel a lot better (and totally cracked me up that my gift was right in front of my nose the whole time)!
Thank you so much, this contest is incredible! :)

+5 One of my fave Christmas memories .. well, this happens basically every year. But my twin brother and I always sneak into each other's room on Christmas morning and we plan out our "convenient" arrival into the living room to open presents so our parents don't think we're THAT excited. We did it last year and we were eighteen years old .. :D

+2 you'll probably put candy canes in the other winners' boxes? and maybe books and $5 dvds? or a box of cute Christmas lights...
+5 favorite Christmas story:
My dad was on strike one year from September to January, and we had to make serious cutbacks to our lifestyle. All of us kids quit playing sports to save on fees and equipment costs, and we burned wood instead of turning up the heat, and we only used power for cooking and necessary light. My mom even had to go to the foodbank, which I know almost broke her heart. I was pretty young, so I probably don't know the extent of it. So we were looking at a really spare Christmas. My mom tried to prepare us all, telling us that it was going to be a really small thing, and we were really lucky to be together and eating good meals.
And then the weeks went by, and boxes just kept turning up at our door. Boxes and boxes and boxes! And it was like a miracle, because half of them were full of oranges and hams and nuts and sausages and candy - chocolate! We'd laugh every time we opened a new one. My grandmother knew how my parents were really struggling, and she called the family and told them that we needed a big Christmas. So they sent food, they sent gifts, they sent money! I remember looking into the living room on Christmas morning in absolute awe because it was the biggest pile of gifts I'd ever seen. Bigger than those displays in Macy's! Us kids just laughed and told my mom that she said it was going to be the smallest Christmas ever, and here it was the biggest we'd ever seen. I know she must have had some emotional moments, but the only time we knew about was when we wrote thank-you notes. Those were elaborate, and we made artwork for everyone. People really can be wonderfully generous if you give them a chance - that's what I learned. And we all tease my mom a bit every year now that we're grown, and ask her if this is going to be our smallest Christmas ever. Of course, it never is... :)

+5 well, i don't celebrate christmas but my family does make a big deal about new years eve, so my favorite new years eve memory was when we were still living in the Philippines and i was seven. my grandma had me help her the whole day with the preparations: from food shopping, to cooking, to serving my whole family--i felt very grown up that day helping my grandma. i was very scared of fireworks then too so she kept her arms around me the whole time my uncle lit up the fireworks. it was all the more special because that was our last new years with them--the next year we moved to the US and haven't spent the holidays in the Philippines since that year.

+5 My favorite Christmas memory (so far) - at Christmas in 2004, my daughter (aka Diva) was 3 and just about old enough to get really excited about Christmas. Wanted to know when it would start snowing and I explained that here in Houston, we don't get snow very often at all. We get it about every 10 years, and then it comes in January or February. I told her she'd be 7 or 8 before it snowed again here.
It started snowing late at night two days before Christmas. Driving home from her great grandmother's house on Christmas Eve, it snowed steadily - wasn't fun to drive in, but it was gorgeous. When we got home we played in the backyard - we got more than an inch, which is a lot for us - she made snow angels on the trampoline. It actually snowed again last year as well, but only faint traces, nothing like 2004. Now every year she hopes it will snow, and I won't argue with her cause who knows?

Things that might be in the other two winners boxes: A copy of Beautiful Creatures, and a gift card to the local movie theater to go see "New Moon" (for the 4th time for some readers).
A recent favorite Christmas memory: Although I don't live there anymore, Winston-Salem, NC was my home for a few years. In the winter we would always attend the Tanglewood Festival of Lights. If you don't get there early to drive through the park to see the Christmas lights, you'll be stuck in a traffic jam. So we would frequently get there an hour before the park opened and park our cars at the main entrance. We'd bring tailgate food (eaten inside the warm cars), but we'd also bring our instruments to play as well. My dad would play trumpet, my father-in-law was on accordion, my brother would play trumpet, my husband would play trombone and I would play the French Horn. We'd walk up and down the line of cars also parked there early, entertaining their riders as they waited for the gates to open. The bored faces would transform into smiles, happy to hear the music on the cold evening. While I didn't enjoy the cold gold mouthpiece on my lips, I loved playing at Tanglewood the few years we did it.
Here's some video of the park on YouTube, which I didn't shoot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u35eLUNTu3o

Christmas Memory. - Let's see. Not sentimental but funny. When I was 5 me and my cousin found some money in a can that my older cousins were saving to buy my grandmother a christmas present. We went to the story and brought $50.00 worth of penny candy. Grandmother went to the store and cussed out the owner for allowing two young kids come to the store and spend 50.00 in penny candy.

Then we went back upstairs and played quietly in our bedroom until our parents allowed us to get up at 6am. I just remember it as being one of those times I really felt a "spirit" of Christmas.

+5 memory
My best All time Christmas Memory is from my dad. He is a carpenter and is very good one at that. Well he decided that he was going to build as a doll house and that Christmas morning was one of the best we loved that doll house and kept it until it was falling apart.. but that's not were it ends. Last Year my dad surprised us again by building my girls a doll house, me & my girls are very luck to have him ..with such memorable Christmases

+2 I think some Christmas stuff like candy canes and bookmarks will be in the other boxes.
+5 My favorite thing about Christmas is that the whole family gets together. We rarely see each other since we all live in different states. We all gather at my grandma's home and have a beautiful family Christmas.

+5 Christmas memory: every year, my little sister and I sleep together and wake up at about six in the morning and wait until seven so that my parents wake up and we can open presents. Even though my sister and I are teens, we still feel like little kids when it's Christmas.
Great contest! Count me in!

+2 - I think there will be holiday treats like Candy Canes and maybe some books like Impossible.
+5 - My favorite holiday memory is every year when I was still at home I would wake up early and wait about an hour and read before going downstairs and waking up my mom. We would make pancakes and then open up our gifts. Then I would head to my dad's and open up our gifts there and then make a nice dinner.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

+5 xmas memory:
I'll never forget the one time I got a present from Santa that my mom forgot she had bought with my little brother. He was so confused! His eyes got so big, like he was thinking I remember picking that out, how could it be from Santa!? Poor kid... :p

+5 Favorite Christmas Memory?
I don't remember it very well, but I have to say when the tree fell on my brother in the middle of the night. I didn't hurt him, so it was hilarious! Even though I was really young, I found it funny.
