Is the Twilight Series really about the books or about the movies?

I have been thinking...

Does anyone feel like this whole "Twilight/New Moon" thing has gotten crazy? I mean it feels less about the books and more about how awesome Rob look's or how beautiful Kristen is. I mean don't get me wrong, I LOVE Rob, and Kristen and Taylor for that matter - I really like the cast, I have no issues with them...at all, (Well except, I wish the media would leave them alone, though I am guilty of watching along with everyone else, so I guess I am right along with the REASON they are not left alone.

However, I am not waiting for New Moon to come out with CRAZY anticipation because of Rob, or Kristen or Taylor - I am SOO looking forward to it, because it's amazing to see characters I love, from a book I devoured several times, come to life.

It's still about the books to me, the characters are awesome...and seeing them "real" is awesome - but for me, at least - it's about the book's...the way Stephanie wrote characters we could nearly touch even though a book, the way the love story evolved though the space of time...

I guess I just feel like there's so many people who maybe missing out on something amazing - a great book series - because the actors themselves are so huge, it's almost like we have forgotten that Rob is NOT Edward - and Kristen is NOT Bella.

Am I totally off my rocker?

  1. I definitely agree, it seems like people actually forget that Rob is Rob, not Edward (and etcetera). I really just love going to see the book come to life, and to see if it's like how I imagined everything.

    Lol, this is definitely one of those things I could blab on about forever. ;)

    I think you really did cover it all perfectly though. I can't wait to see how New Moon is, and hopefully it's just like the book!

  2. You're not off your rocker at all! I feel the same exact way. Anytime I'm talking to someone in person about Twilight I always feel the need to say "I read the books when they first came out." I don't know why but I always want to make sure that that person knows that I love the books not the hype. Not Rob or Kristen or Taylor. The books! Of course I love RPatz and KStew and Taylor(he needs nickname too)but I was a fan of Stepenie Meyer long before them. If I had my choice today I would take meeting SM over the actors any day!
    Also when I'm buying a Twi t-shirt or something like that I never buy the ones with the actors on them! I want something that represents the books not the movies.
    Okay I'm done with my rant :)

Thanks guys it makes me feel good that I am NOT the only one out there that's looking forward to the BOOK that's being presented as a movie - I cant wait, seeing it 2 times in ONE day (Friday) I cant deny that...just makes me sad to think that one of the books I love best is sorta being forgotten because the movie is SOOO big!
