Deadly Little Lies - Review

Deadly Little Lies Review

FYI...Deadly Little Lies is the 2nd book in the Touch Series, with Deadly Little Secret being the first.

Laurie Faria Stolarz, has an amazing way of telling a story – descriptive, but not overly so, allowing the reader to add their own take imagination to the world in which Camelia and Ben live. This is only the 2nd book I have read written by Laurie, however having several other’s on the shelves, patiently waiting to be read, it will not be the last – and I will be patiently (or not so patiently) waiting to the 3rd in the Touch Series, as well (Deadly Little Games, release date not known).

Deadly Little Lies is full of suspense – it’s an intense, roller coaster of a ride…from the very first page I was hooked, turning pages till the “ride” was over. With several questions still left lingering on the edge of my lips.

Deadly Little Lies does dive deeper into the reasons behind why Camelia does not confide more in her parents, with in the pages of Deadly Little Secret’s. Which, I was happy about, however it’s still an issue, even in Deadly Little Lies, there’s always a “reason” why her parents are better off being left in the dark. If I was them, only finding out after the fact, what’s going on, I would find it very hard to trust my child.

That being said, I did enjoy Deadly Little Lies, more so than Deadly Little Secret’s – the plot seemed to move at a crazy pace, I found myself saying – one more chapter then I MUST quit...only to find myself reading another and often another.

I also liked the way the story of Camelia’s Aunt was woven within the pages, adding an intriguing twist to the story, as well as adding a bit of a back history about Camelia’s mom, which I found in lighting.

The plot is similar to that of its predecessor, but only in that there’s another stalker, the intensity as well as the mystery within the pages of Deadly Little Lies is MUCH more intense than anything I experienced with in the first novel! I mean, it kept me guessing right up till the last few chapters, where Laurie takes you by the hand and explains what’s been going on! It’s a twist that NO one could predict, at least, I didn’t.

Ben and Camelia’s relationship is still a huge part of the Touch Series, however because Ben has decided it’s in both their best interests to “step” back and take a break from the relationship, Camelia finds herself heartbroken, and completely unsure of what to do next – does “stepping back” mean breaking up forever? The confusion only rises when neither of them can seem to keep away from the other…of course the sexy new guy working at Knead, does not help at all…and only adds to the drama! Does Camelia find the shoulder she needs with in the arms of Alex (the new guy) or can she come to trust that she needs Ben, in more ways than one?

I give Deadly Little Lies a 4 stars, and I can’t wait till Deadly Little Game’s hits the book shelves, I have a feeling that it’s going to be more intense than ever!

  2. I sort of skimmed your review because I haven't yet read Deadly Little Secrets, but thank you! The stalker sounds interesting and everything just intense in general. Adding on to my TBR list. :)
