The Pace by Shelena Shorts – Review

The Pace
The Pace is not a book I can describe with out giving away the most wonderful parts of what makes the story so unique..the synopsis via goodreads will have to do:

Weston Wilson is not immortal and he is of this world. But, aging is not part of his existence, and eighteen-year-old Sophie Slone is determined to find out why. In doing so, she could also uncover something about her own life expectancy that she may not want to know. Suddenly, immortality will mean everything and nothing all at the same time.

Intensely fascinating and rich with determination, The Pace brings together romance, mystery, and suspense in a compelling bond that is sure to have readers asking for more.

Now, have you ever read a book, that left you sitting up for HOURS thinking about it? A book, whose characters you dreamed about? A book that when you woke up in the morning you were STILL thinking about, still crying over?

The Pace was that kind of book for me...I was up till 2 AM just thinking about the amazing story line, and the wonderful characters with in it's pages. Sitting here now, 2 days after finishing it - I am still thinking about it, the characters were that amazing - they are just SO real!

The Pace is so unique in it's story line, but it's so much more than that...I got lost with in the pages of the book, I could almost see the story taking place in front of my eyes. The way Shelena Shorts uses descriptions, I really felt as thought I was there...witnessing the beautiful love story first hand.

The Pace IS a love story...but there's again so much more than that, if you were thinking you did not want to give this story a chance because it's a love story, you would really be missing out on something wonderful. The Pace offers unique themes such as the pace of time, the science element, as well as a spiritual tie in...how Shelena Shorts married them all together, I can't tell you – but she does, and it's beautiful!

Shelena's writing reminds me of that of Stephanie Meyer – not that the story was similar at all, other than the fact that it's about teen's and it's a love story, sorta...but in the way she captured the mood, described the people, captured my attention and drew me into the story to where I did not want to do ANYTHING other than read! The last real time I felt like that, was while I was reading Twilight. Now I am not at all saying that if you hated Twilight you will not like this book, again, it just drew me into the story in the same dynamic way.

Gosh, ok this review is really all gush – I kinda new it would be and that's why I waited to write it, thinking a bit of distance would help put my thoughts more in prospective, to where I was able to get it all down better...but that's just part of the magic of The Pace I think – I CAN'T get enough distance, and I don't really want to. It's in the magic, and the gush that, I think you my readers can see how much this book really captivated me!

When starting The Pace, I would recommend you start when you have some time...it's a book that you will NOT want to put down, for that I can guarantee! I know, I did not want to put it down, not even for a minute...I wanted to keep crawling back into it's pages to my happy perch watching the beauty unfold.

Bottom line – The Pace for me is magic, it holds everything I love with in it's pages – a bit of love with a unique and paranormal twist. I was sitting on the edge of my seat all the way until the last pages...I think EVERYONE should give Shelena Shorts debut novel a try...this writer is going places, I just hope she's ready for the ride!

I give The Pace a 5++ stars! I can NOT wait for The Broken Lake (The Pace Book 2) to be released on August 19th...it promises to be amazing!

  7. Aug 19th?!?! That seems like forever away...

teehee... You're review reminds me so much of myself when I read this book. I read it last November and I huddled myself away for an afternoon to read it. I think I may have even gotten teary-eyed over it. *no shame* That just shows how into the story I got.

    :]

What a absolutely wonderful review! Shelena is a good friend of mine and emailed me this link to the review. I have to tell you, when I personally read The Pace, I was immediately drawn in to the lives of Sophie and Wes. Shelena's writing is exquisite and she truly has a unique voice. I spent two days carrying the book around with me, I couldn't bear to set it down. She gave me the privelege of a sneak peek at The Broken Lake and I assure you, you won't be dissapointed!
