What do you all feel about posting reviews? IE do you post as soon as you read and write them? Or do you have some saved up for a "rainy" day or week - when your not reading as much as you usually do?
I have SEVERAL reviews to post - but 1. I worry that I post to much already. 2. I wanted to save up some for a "rainy" week when I am not reading as much.
But then on the other hand, I think maybe I am "hording" my reviews denying you of perhaps a great book you might pick up if you see what I had to say - not that I think my reviews prevents you from picking up a great book, but I know when I read a review and see a trusted reviewer loved it, I am more apt to pick it up.
So, what do you all think? Post ASAP or save some for "later" at some point?
Right now, I have reviews for 12 books, with Aubrey having written another 3 or 4 LOL yep, see I hoard reviews LOL...
Reviews to post:
Numbers (just read and reviewed so this one has not been hoarded to long)
You Are So Undead To Me (again just read recently)
The Mark (just read recently)
The Devouring
Chasing Brooklyn
Impossible
Wonderous Strange
The Lonely Hearts Club
Love, Aubrey
I Heart You, You Haunt Me
Candor
Undead Much? (just finished)
*BTW I do WRITE the reviews, ASAP after finishing, usually the same day or the next day, at the outside 2 days later for books I need to process a bit...I tend to forget a book if I don't review it asap...I just have them written in a file on my computer waiting to post. LOL
UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your advice - you ladies rock my socks off, I think I am going to start scheduling! WOOT!

Well alot of mine are scheduled because they are parts of blog tours so I use the "other" reviews for days I don't have anything scheduled. I try to have something to post everyday...one post a day. So you could always schedule something like that?
ReplyDeleteI post mine right away. My problem is I sometimes delay writing them. Some books I ned a day or so to think about what I want to write. In the meantime, I end up reading something else, so the reviews stack up once in a while.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts, if you have 'em, share 'em. But it depends the main purpose of your blog. For example, my main goals are interviews and reviews. I use the other things for rainy days.
I have been scheduling posts as well. I find it a lot easier to just write a bunch of reviews at once and have them posted regularly than post a bunch all at once. It makes it easier for the reader.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys - LOL my issue now is that there's so many that I read last year even - I guess scheduling them is a good idea - and your right, my blog is for reviews and interviews when I get to do those - so they should take priority...
ReplyDeleteMost days I post - LOL at least once it seems like - but I do other things like sunday wrap up, and Waiting on Wed. and Music Mondays - but I guess it would be ok to post something like that early and a review later in the day LOL...
Thanks girls for your advice!
I try to review a book as soon as I finish it -- or at least within the week. My brain is so cluttered that I need to get it down while it's still fresh in my mind. *LOL!*
ReplyDeleteOH LOL I agree with you Stephanie - I write them they are all written just not posted!
ReplyDeleteI write them within a few days of finishing them! Otherwise I feel like I can't capture the story because I'll forget what I was feeling when I read it! I don't like to hoard reviews. Some days I don't have any posts and I'm okay with that! :)
ReplyDeleteI am like you guys, I have to write them pretty soon after I finish reading the book or the details get foggy. I guess I am getting old lol I post them as soon as I finish writing them.
ReplyDeleteI don't review a lot of books, but older ones I post right away and the rest go up around the release date. Usually they involve an author visit, so that works well.
ReplyDeleteI've been scheduling my blog ahead of time. I'm only a week ahead right now because school has been crazy, but it helps. I review 3 books a week (MWF) and then the other days I post other book related stuff. I only post once a day unless a new cover pops up that I want to share or something exciting book related that I can't wait to share :)
ReplyDeleteI usually review my books right after I read them, simply because they're fresh in my mind then :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this question because I am going through the same. I have so many reviews to post, and I just didn't want to post them all at once. The other reviews have helped me :)
ReplyDeleteI generally write and post a review as soon as I am finished reading the book. If I ever have a stretch of time in which I can few a few book and write the reviews at once, I would like to have a couple saved up for a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteAs it is, I am busy with my work and writing and don't have as much time to read as I would like. Most of the time, I don't feel like I post enough reviews.
Right after I finish a book, I write a review (except for Hunger Games and Catching Fire...for some reason). But I don't post it immediately...
ReplyDeleteI still have reviews from 2009 to post...*sigh*
Well *ahem* I *try* to review my books as soon as I've read them, but I *ahem* never do.
ReplyDeleteNot on purpose.
It just happens.
I start a new book.
Then the reviews start to pile up..
But I can't write them, just like that, on a post.
I don't know why.
Some strange thing called: my brain.
:P
I review mine as as soon as I read them. At least then I'll remember everything that I liked or disliked about the book. As soon as I finish writing the review I'm off reading another book. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't read as much as I would hope to. I read about 1 book a weak, 2 if it's a good week =P So I write/post my reviews soon after finishing the book.
ReplyDeleteMy and I likes to say I have a goldfish memory, So I need to write my review ASAP if I don't want to forget anything.
On a positive note I can re-read books I love over and over and love them just as much everytime ^^
I'm one of those people who has to write the review as soon as I finish the book. Otherwise I'll probably forget all of the stuff I wanted to say about it. Especially if I start another book - sometimes I keep myself from starting a new one until I've posted the review. That way I have to do it! :)
ReplyDeleteI've not been reviewing long so I prefer to write my review as soon as I've finished reading the book. I won't let myself start the next book until I've reviewed the last one! I might change that as I go along & get more experience but it's working well for me so far. I don't hoard reviews either, I like to post them as soon as they're written. I think the only time I'd delay it would be if I wanted to link it in with an interview or release date.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a backlog of reviews to post. I have been reading only 1-2 books a week and posting the review right after I finish the book. Right now, that means that there may be one review a week or two or, in a really good week, three.
ReplyDeleteHaving a schedule would be a good thing too. I need tho think about something that I will be able to do consistently. Right now the only thing that is consistent is my IMM posts on Sunday.
Thanks for giving me something more to think about.
It depends on the publication date of the book (and how I got the book i.e. if it was sent to me for review, then I post it asap). I try to post reviews as close to the release date as possible. But if its an older book, I might save the review to have on hand for a later date (like if I'm sick etc.)
ReplyDeleteWell I write them as soon as I finish the book so my thoughts are fresh in my mind. I don't always post right away. I set them to publish on certain dates. It might be the next day or a month away closer to a release date.
ReplyDeleteI NORMALLY try to do it right away because if not, I'll be backed up with review after review to post....
ReplyDeleteI've nominated you for the Happy 101 award:

I agree with the people above - thanks for posting this question! I've been reading all the responses and it's made me think about my own blog and reviews. I'm still really new to the whole book blog thing, and I am in school, so I'm not reading as much as I would like to be right now. I do have a lot of reviews that I wrote down in a journal, one that I've been keeping for years. I guess I could just use some of the those recent reviews I have to post on days when there's nothing else to share. I'm also trying to find maybe another daily thing to share...
ReplyDeleteOnce I get the blog really going, I'm sure a schedule would be a great thing to have for it. That way there is for sure a post everyday.
I try to do them as soon as I finish reading. The only one I haven't done is Lamentation, and I should really get to that one before I forget the storyline, lol!
ReplyDeleteI have around 5-6 rainy day posts which I use if I want to take a break, but don't want to neglect my blog. Otherwise, I usually post reviews of books as soon as I read them.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't like to post more then 3 post a day. I post reviews when I feel they're reading to be posted. Sometimes a review that I feel certain about will be posted right away, and other times I need some time to think about it. But I also got to think about my meme.
ReplyDeleteI usually write a review immediately after finishing a book, but sometimes I take a few days or a week before writing others. It really depends on how much time I actually have in front of my computer. I often have more time where I can read than sitting down to write a review.
ReplyDeleteI always try to write them right away while they are frech in my mind. If I have no other book posts that day I will post it. I try to give a book reviews a stand alone day so people can stop in and not see it buried by other posts.
