Truly, Madly by Heather Webber - Review

Truly Madly by Heather Webber Review
Synopsis via goodreads:

Meet Lucy Valentine; sassy, fabulously original…and psychic.

Lucy hails from a long line of matchmakers known as Valentine INC. According to family legend, the Valentines have been blessed by Cupid with the ability to help couples find true love. Trouble is Lucy’s powers were zapped away by an electrical surge and now all she can find are lost objects.

But what good is that in the matchmaking world?

Lucy is about to find out when she tries to solve a murder and winds up falling into a romance of her own.

Let me first say that – I CAN NOT WAIT for Lucy's story to continue! I received this book via goodreads swap, it was on my “wish list” so I got an email when some posted the ARC...what luck – I got the privileged to read it before it even comes out!

Truly, Madly introduces us to Lucy Valentine, whom is a sassy, fun original character...whom at the ripe age of 14 looses her ability to see the aura's, which has made her family such good matchmakers. Her family whom, as rumor has it, was gifted this ability via Cupid himself.

Instead of the aura's, Lucy is able to find “lost objects,” not people, but things people have lost...she believing this talent is not at all worth anything in the confines of her family, cuts off any and all monies coming from them, determined to “do it on her own.” (Since she can't work at Valentines Inc. she is sure she does not deserve the monies that came to her family via the business.)

As such, Lucy ends up in a series of dead-end jobs, never finding her calling, never feeling the ability to, connect to anyone or any “job” she might hold. That is until her father brings shame onto the family, and into his beloved business, he's caught having an affair!

He fleas, taking Lucy's mother with him, he must let the “heat” die down, he's never been one for confrontation...Lucy is left to handle “the business” and with no one else, Lucy feels it's her duty to take over, it's only for 2 weeks, what harm could she do in two small weeks?

That's what Lucy thinks, until she meets Micheal, a new client. When she reaches out for a simple handshake, all hell breaks loose, and Lucy is on a ride she never meant to be on...with Sean, whom she never meant to be falling for...

Truly, Madly is such a FUN read...I REALLY enjoyed Lucy...she's a strong, caring, amazingly funny character...I found myself laughing with her, and at her sometimes! She's goofy in a good way, a character I found myself wishing was real, so that we could hang out! She has a good head on her shoulders, but often lacks confidence in her abilities, which I found endearing.

The story, I found refreshingly original, and intense...I read it in a bit over a day (I needed to sleep). It's very much a “chick” love story – but like I said, intense with a nice little mystery stirred in...actually 2, sorta! (Yeah don't ask you must read it to find out what that means!)

Like I said, I read it fast, not because it's short, it's 305 pages (in the arc), but because I could not put it down, I so wanted to know what would happen next, what the next chapter would hold, Heather Webber did an amazing job holding my attentions, and making me crave more! As I said before, I will pining for the next in the series scheduled to come out in August, I CAN'T wait to read more about Lucy and to find out what happens next with in the story of Lucy's life!

Truly, Madly is a 5 star book for me! I loved it!
