Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis - Mini-View

Synopsis via Goodreads:
Shelby’s summer plans go totally awry when her horrible stepmother sends her off to “brat camp” as punishment for one too many broken curfews. Camp is full of spoiled rich kids, obnoxious counselors wanting Shelby to talk about her feelings, and a totally inhumane “no cell phones” policy.

Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star) Austin Bridges III. But soon she realizes there’s more to Austin than crush material—his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby’s help guarding it. Shelby knows that bad boys get her into trouble…but who is she to turn her back on a guy in need, especially such a good-looking one?

Heather Davis’s debut novel mixes together irresistible characters, a pesky full moon, and a delicious taste of the supernatural.
I liked Never Cry Werewolf OK...for me the ending was the best part, kinda leaving it open to have a sequel perhaps? (Which I would like to see!)

I did like Austin's character – but really even he fell kinda flat. I did not feel as though I “knew” the main characters at all, no real connection there.

The plot was also kinda weird, are there really “brat” camps where they put children inside of a barbed wire fence not allowing them to get out, with woods all around and MILES to the nearest towns? I mean holy cow, my kids can be a hand full but that's CRAZY – I would never send my kids to that kinda place no matter what was going on.

Bottom Line - I would have liked to see more build up in the story, as well as more character development...it's really short and only took me a few hours to finish, I hope there's more “story” as Heather grows into her writing more. I can defiantly tell that Heather has some fun, unique idea's – and if Never Cry Werewolf is any indication, Heather will go far. (I am also secretly hoping for a sequel...there's totally room for one...come on Heather!) I give Never Cry Werewolf a 3 mushrooms, and am looking forward to more.
