From Dusk Till Dawn - A Read-A-Thon

You might remember, since it was just a few days ago, the Read-A-Thon, brought to us by Pure Imagination, with lots of little challenges, and tons of stuff to win? I was so excited, it's the first one I have known about that was during the week, so I thought it might allow me to get LOTS of reading done...sadly I was wrong and life took over!

So I got to thinking, when is it that I get most of my reading done? Honestly, and almost sadly - at night is when probably at least 80% of my reading is done...Right after the kids start winding down, until around 1AM (most nights) I have my nose buried!

So with that, the idea was born - A Dusk Till Dawn Read-A-Thon!

Only the pages you read from Dusk till Dawn will "count" toward the Read-A-Ton - though, as always, page count does not matter at all, it's all about having FUN, while doing something we ALL love!

The Dusk Till Dawn Read-A-Thon will run from August 25th though August 29th between the hours of 8 PM till 8 AM - in whatever time zone your in!

During these hours I hope to have several blogs post little challenges - and that's where I need some help!!!

Please take a minute to email me Jenn {at} book-crazy.com - I am hoping to find lots of blogs to not only participate but host some challenges, authors whom might like to donate prizes, and YOU whom just want to join in the wacky FUN!!!

Please email me before August 1st, so we can have plenty of time to get everything organized! And, YOU stay tuned for LOTS more info about the Dusk Till Dawn Read-A-Thon, including the prizes that can be won!!

BTW, any one better at graphics want to help out with a button? I made that one and not so sure it's um...well, you can see what it looks like *Blush*

To Clarify:

  • DUH, I wrote the wrong date in the post originally The Dusk Till Dawn Read-A-Thon is AUGUST 25th though AUGUST 29th!! (sorry...my bad!)
  • Please sleep, it's a 5 night event, including a Friday and Sat. night. (I plan on staying up till around 1ish each night, and maybe all night only once.
  • The Challenges will be available during day light hours, so - you can read at night and do the challenges during the light of day.
  • I decided on this time table so that I could try to catch all those teens before they head back to school.
A couple buttons that were made if you want to add them to your sidebar's to help us promote!!

  1. I would love to participate, but I can't read during those hours. "/ I'm not even supposed to be up at 2:00 in the morning (even though I am :D)

    Sorry,

  2. I think the readathon idea is great, but it looks like you only have one weekend night included (Saturday),I'm not counting Sunday because most people wake up and go to school or work on Monday early, which could be a bit problematic for participants who work the traditional 8-5 and particpants who are still in school. I would suggest starting it on Friday so we can particpate too!

  3. April, it starts on a Wednesday - So Friday and Saturday are both included.

Actually thought of doing it at the end of September, to avoid school for all those going back to school.

I don't plan on being up all night for 5 nights, just reading like I normally do. :)

  13. This is an A.W.E.S.O.M.E. idea! Finally, my insomnia may pay-off! I would love to partake, and help out on my blog, too. I think that's my week off, too. You did this just for me, didn't you. Or this is fate, divine intervention, the universe has spoken.

  17. Yay! I was hoping for another read-a-thon soon...since I failed so miserably at the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon! And I'm a true night owl so this is right up my alley. AND I don't start back to college until the 28th so it really won't interfere since they usually don't give you much the first days anyway. Thanks for the great idea. I like your button, but I'm going to make you another one...I say, the more buttons the better...LOL!
