She's So Dead To Us by Kieran Scott - Review

Seriously, seriously, is that it??
First the synopsis via goodreads:
When having money is all that matters, what happens when you lose it all?

Perfect, picturesque Orchard Hill. It was the last thing Ally Ryan saw in the rear-view mirror as her mother drove them out of town and away from the shame of the scandal her father caused when his hedge fund went south and practically bankrupted all their friends -- friends that liked having trust funds and new cars, and that didn't like constant reminders that they had been swindled. So itwas adios,Orchard Hill. Thanks for nothing.

Now, two years later, Ally's mother has landed a job back at the site of their downfall. So instead of Ally's new low-key, happy life, it'll be back into the snake pit with the likes of Shannen Moore and Hammond Ross.

But then there's Jake Graydon. Handsome, wealthy, bored Jake Graydon. He moved to town after Ally left and knows nothing of her scandal, but does know that he likes her. And she likes him. So off into the sunset they can go, right? Too bad Jake's friends have a problem with his new crush since it would make Ally happy. And if anyone deserves to be unhappy, it's Ally Ryan.

Ally was hoping to have left all the drama in the past, but some things just can't be forgotten. Isn't there more to life than money?
Ok...now to get to it...

First off, I enjoyed Kieran Scott's writing, this is the first book I have read by her, and she's got an authentic voice, each of the girls rang true, though I wish that were NOT the case, at times!

The popular's were bitchy, whiny and frankly I hated them. I mean, that's the point right?

The guys, were such guys, into doing basically what the “popular” girls said to do, and sports.

Then there was Jake though I am sure we were supposed to love him, be all like gushing about him, I was NOT. He's got a tender side, but honestly he's a cad, from what I can tell he basically feels he can “have” any girl he wants, at one point someone calls him a male whore, and from what I know about him, I have to agree. Though, he does grow a bit, he still justifies things, when he knows down deep he never should!

Then there's Ally herself, and she's got it rough, though she's ultimately human, she's defiantly made mistakes, before leaving as well as when she returns...she uses people to get what she thinks she wants, and does some dishonest things, but she's real...and she's determined, which I liked. She's also not like the other girls, she's often, until the end, willing to stand up for herself...though in the end she does become the better person, I sorta wished she had not grown so much...

Then the ending, well, cliff hanger it is...and I hate that, if we KNEW when the next would be published, maybe it would make it easier – but like with Leaving Paradise, or the Night World Series, who knows we might be waiting for months or even years waiting for more...waiting to know what becomes of Ally, and Jake as well as the rest of the “pack.”

Bottom Line - She's So Dead To Us, is a book that literally got my panties in a bunch, with a story as compelling and real as this one was, with characters, though most of them mean, who jumped off the page and kicked me in the ribs. Kieran Scott, is an amazing talent, whom got right to the root of popular girl pettiness, there mean spirit, and spiteful reasoning for everything they do. It's all about money, popularity and getting the upper hand, and Kieran defiantly dived in head first into the deep end, with She's So Dead To Us...it was honestly a hard book to read, but even hard to put down! I give her HIGH kudo's for her style, amazing characters as well as her poignantly real story line, I just wish we knew when we would be able to get MORE! I give She's So Dead To Us a 4 mushrooms and implore Kieran Scott to write fast!

  7. I liked this book a lot, but I REALLY wish it hadn't ended at a cliffhanger. I was confused, but that was because I started in the middle, reading over a friend's shoulder soo...
    Happy Reading! ~Stev
